MM Graphia Trier Orders Second 1,060 × 1,450 Millimeter (41.73 × 57.09 Inch) PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 01 July 2008

At the start of June 2008, MM Graphia Trier, a member of the leading European folding carton manufacturer Mayr-Melnhof Packaging, signed an agreement for a Dymatrix 145 CSB, thus securing a second die cutter for the 1,060 × 1,450 millimeter (41.73 in 57.09 inch) format.

This will augment the existing WPM 600 die cutter at the Trier plant. The new die cutter will be used primarily to produce cigarette packaging. "We chose the Dymatrix 145 as the tools are compatible with the existing die cutter and because Heidelberg is well known for its fast service and supply of spare parts," explains Rainer Schmidt, MD of Mayr-Melnhof Packaging Germany.

A further press from Heidelberg will also be installed soon - the Speedmaster XL 105-10 with dual coating for the Trier plant is to be followed by a Speedmaster XL 105-7 with dual coating for the MMP plant in Poland.

With all these installations, Heidelberg is now the packaging partner of choice for Mayr-Melnhof.

The Mayr-Melnhof Group is the world’s largest manufacturer of recyclable card and Europe’s leading folding carton producer.

MM Karton is the world leader in the manufacture of card made from recycled paper and Europe’s largest producer of folding boxboard. The division has eight European sites with a total annual capacity of around 1.7 million metric tons. The product portfolio spans the whole range of recyclable card with a gray, light, white, and kraft reverse. The broad product selection from Mayr-Melnhof Karton also includes fresh fiber card.

MM Packaging is Europe’s largest producer of folding cartons. Each year, at 28 locations, over 650,000 metric tons of card are processed into folding cartons and supplied predominantly to multinational customers from the brand goods industry. A broad portfolio, a commitment to innovation, and efficiency enhancements are all key to the division’s successful development.

The MM Group had around 8,600 employees in 2007 and generated sales of approximately 1.7 billion Euro. Mayr-Melnhof has been listed on the Vienna stock exchange since 1994.
